Marta Chekhovich-RuberaMarta’s passion for mental health began when her eldest son was diagnosed with ASD. This personal journey inspired Marta to support families facing similar challenges, guiding them through the complexities of diagnoses and mental health concerns. Beyond working with children, and families, Marta has extensive experience helping individuals cope with trauma. These experiences have shaped her approach to therapy, focusing on empathy, resilience, and a deep understanding of how trauma and life challenges affect individuals, couples, and families. Kristen MercurioKristen utilizes a strength based and client-centered approach, which allows her to meet each client where they are at. She works collaboratively with her clients to help identify any unsupportive patterns of thinking and maladaptive behaviours. Kristen has experience working in diverse community settings, with her previous education in Child and Youth Work. Kristen utilizes techniques such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. She strives to create a compassionate and welcoming space where clients can develop meaningful coping strategies.

Robin GrossmanAs a registered social worker and psychotherapist, Robin offers a warm, non-judgmental space for individuals and couples to feel truly heard and supported. Throughout her career, Robin has worked in community, hospital, and primary care settings supporting people from different walks of life. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and CBT for Insomnia. By taking a thoughtful, personalized, and eclectic approach, she helps guide individuals to feel more grounded, build resilience, and move toward the life they envision.

Student Therapist
Our centre hosts practicum students who are completing their Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree. During their practicum placement, student therapists provide counselling under the supervision of our qualified clinical supervisors. Each student therapist brings a strong commitment to supporting individuals facing a range of mental health and life challenges. They work collaboratively with clients to foster growth, resilience, and well-being. mental health services offered at our Newmarket Counselling
Centre location. She is pleased to assist you and help you
select the therapist to best suit your needs and introduce
you to individual and group therapy and workshops/programs.
She devotes her time to assist you with registration,
provide bookings, change and manage any appointments,
billing and most importantly, connect you with your
individual mental health care practitioner. She looks
